ATHENS. The winding down of the COVID-19 pandemic is welcome news to Welcome Pickups, a Greek startup company that offers travelers personalized transfers and guided destination-specific sightseeing tours.
The business said it had secured 5.3 million euros ($5.59 million) in a new funding round from existing investors, Market One Capital, Flashpoint, and Venture Friends, said Tech.EU.
Welcome Pickups’ CEO Alex Trimis said that, “The additional funding will be used to accelerate the company’s geographical reach with a goal to double its destination network, focusing strongly on launching new destinations in North and South America. A portion of the funds will also go to further improving customer experience and developing new products.”
Investors were impressed by its ability to weather the Coronavirus storm and grow 50 percent and open 30 new destinations through 2022, the company saying it had streamlined processes and added product-led automation.
That, the company said, allowed it to reduce workers participation 800 percent and driven up earnings by relying on automation instead of people to help run the operation and maximize profits and returns to investors.
